CURRENTLY READING

poppy war

THE POPPY WAR

OMG this book is amazing. It’s an adult military fantasy and I didn’t expect to love it this much. I started reading it last month but slowed down as I got closer to the end because I didn’t want it to end.  The sequel is coming out 2019, I can’t wait that long  ?. I know it’s weird but when I really, really like a book I read it slowly to prolong the experience because I don’t want it to end and I’ve also been busy with work so yeah. This book has a lot of violence and war crimes and other triggers though so it’s not an easy read. Full review to come as soon as I’m done with a list of the trigger warnings of course.

JUST FINISHED READING

A WRINKLE IN TIME

Finally read this book and I enjoyed it. It’s a children and young adult book but I feel some of the scientific jargon in the book might confuse kids. That’s just me though. I’m definitely going to read the rest of the books in the quintet when I can, for now I’m off to watch the movie (Oprah as Mrs. Which ? , so excited.)

ROSEWATER

Written by Tade Thompson, author of The murders of Molly Southbourne. Rosewater is set in a futuristic Nigeria with a mysterious alien biodome, psychics and crime drama so you can see why I’m excited about reading this book.

Rosewater is a town on the edge. A community formed around the edges of a mysterious alien biodome, its residents comprise the hopeful, the hungry and the helpless – people eager for a glimpse inside the dome or a taste of its rumoured healing powers.

Kaaro is a government agent with a criminal past. He has seen inside the biodome, and doesn’t care to again – but when something begins killing off others like himself, Kaaro must defy his masters to search for an answer, facing his dark history and coming to a realisation about a horrifying future.
